6. SurrealA Chapter by Katherine Enma PineappleSurreal
adj. bizarre; weirdly unfamiliar, distorted, or
disturbing, like the experiences in a dream or the objects or experiences
depicted in surrealism Days have passed
after Gino had healed Chrishalyn who was now mobile and ready to go. Loki was
delighted to have everything as planned while Gino sat in torture in Loki’s
guest bedroom, guarded by Jewel who would only spend her time reading and
ignoring him. But the Picas family didn’t have things going so smoothly. “Why don’t you
stop for today?” Ricky eyed Mary and Max as they glare at their victim
whimpering down at their feet. They were at the back of the school’s library. “I’m so sorry I
won’t cut in front of you again!” said victim cried as he scooped himself into
a ball. Mary merely kicked him back to the ground and stood over him. “To make sure you
won’t,” Mary smiled and sneakily took his wallet and took its contents. She
smirked and threw it back to the guy who merely collected it and scrambled to
escape. Ricky frowned as he approached his cousins. “You know Loki and
Jewel might find out what you’re doing,” he remarked. Max scoffed. “Especially
Jewel.” “You’re giving
that smart a*s b***h of his too much credit.” “Watch your
language Max,” Ricky glared at him. Mary just sighed and rolled her eyes. “It’s
your fault for letting her beat you up.” “Nothing bad is
going to happen if he talks like that Ricky,” she retorted. “And don’t forget
that she kidnapped Gino.” “Why don’t you try
and save him?” Ricky questioned. “I can’t save
HIM.” Ricky shook his
head in dismay as he silently fumed. He was irritated. He could understand that
his cousins are grieving but… They’re acting
like children, Ricky thought. “Where did you say
they were?” It was a familiar voice. That’s Loki. The three turned to the right
where they heard the voice. “I told you so.”
Ricky remarked as he prepared himself and stood by Max and Mary who were nervously
waiting. Ricky scratched his head and listened. He listened for footsteps,
small hardly audible movements and anything that could mean the number of people
approaching. “Loki and two
other people,” Ricky whispered as he bobbed his head and furrowed his brow.
“They’re talking and judging by the voices there’s a female and the guy you
beat up earlier. “Who’s the
female?” Mary asked. That was a question Ricky wasn’t sure he can answer. It
sounded so familiar. But he couldn’t have answered anyway since the figures
revealed themselves faster than he could have moved his mouth. And the three
stood, mouth agape. They didn’t know what to say and how they should react.
They were simply breathless. Mary’s lips quivered as she stood, frozen in
place. “Chrishalyn?” © 2012 Katherine Enma Pineapple |
