Artlike, ChildlikeA Story by Katherine Enma PineappleEven after a year I'm struggling with the title of this essayThe boundaries of an artist couldn’t be explained by the artist himself or herself. He or she could never explain why or how it came to them to create one great piece of art he or she created. They would simply just say what gave them such inspiration and the pain of realizing that the art they just conceived couldn’t be born once again. It was as if they had just given birth and the child like any other was the greatest thing they could have ever pulled out from their mere daily actions in life. In a trance or not even realizing what they are doing they would mindlessly move their fingers across the typewriter or flick their wrists forming perfect lines. Their hands could just mindlessly stroke out letters or accidentally create melodies they never even knew existed. They wouldn’t know they would give birth to art. What’s another painful thing is for the artist to realize that art doesn’t move accordingly to their brain. Such beautiful art could only raise itself and us to support its needs whether it may be paint, pencils, movement, words, order, presentation, instruments just a physical embodiment for people to realize its existence. It was a child that just needed us to supply the needs for them to grow and for them to live. Art has a mind of its own. When we step back and see what we just created and find out it turned out beautiful or ugly to anyone it would still be beautiful in our eyes. We can just feel the smile tugging at the ends of our lips and applaud ourselves even if no one else applauds it. At that very moment there was nothing in the world that could count our astonishment. No matter what applause it gets it will always be the greatest thing a mortal being like us could give birth to. Every piece of art is a child And every child is a piece of art.
