3. Singing in the ShowerA Chapter by Katherine Enma Pineapple“Why can’t the prince leave us to our jobs?” The maids whispered to
each other as Lianne swept the hallways with a soft broom. She had one hand
behind her back as she collected the dust in a corner. “Perhaps it’s a ploy to get us to forgive him.” One said with a glare. “Kindness will never be present in a murderer!” Another said. “Shush! He might hear you!” I already have, Lianne mentally answered as she runs off to find a
dustpan. Once she does she goes back to collect the dirt. Frowning, she lazily
dumps it on the trash bin and sighs. She mentally lists all that she has done
today. I helped the maids in tidying up the castle Also in fixing a lot of things What else? She takes a deep breath. What now? The castle is cleaned and it’s not
even lunch yet. She shrugged her shoulders and raised her arm to catch a quick
sniff of herself. I stink. She grimaced, wiping the sweat off her forehead. “Should I freshen up for the princess?” She asked herself. “I think you should,” Lianne jumped and kicked the source of the voice.
Said owner groaned in pain and clenched their stomach on which Lianne’s kick
had landed. She glared when she saw who the perpetrator was. “Do you seriously do anything but scare people?!” She yelled angrily.
The owner released a horse laugh. Not hoarse but HORSE. The owner revealed itself. Armed with a mischievous but pain filled
grin, it revealed its horse face. Save for his half man body, he would probably
look like a handsome black horse. “You’re pretty damn useless you know that?” Lianne grunted as she
stormed off, leaving a half-man half-horse smirking as he watched her
disappearing to the hallways of the palace. Moments later Lenalee ran in a rush towards Lianne’s quarters. Sweat
covering her face, she gasped as she stumbled on a corner. “Prince Rooooy!” she yelled as frantically knocked on the door. “The
Princess arrived!” No response “Prince Roooy!” Lenalee cried again as she opened the doors with her
master key. “Pardon me but this is urgent!” “Hey I just met you and this is crazy!” Lenalee heard. She gasped as
pop music obviously echoes through the bathroom tiles. The Prince is listening to 21st Century music again! She
thought as she yelled yet again but the nature of her soft voice prevented her
from reaching Lianne’s ears. “Prince Rooy! Princess Catherine’s going to settle down in your room!”
She cried as she dragged herself on the floor. “Prince Roooooooy!” Giving up, Lenalee ran off to try to inform the Princess. It’s my duty
to make sure Prince Roy won’t be shamed! She thought, determined, I must not
let the Princess hear the Prince sing! © 2012 Katherine Enma PineappleAuthor's Note
