2. DadA Chapter by Katherine Enma PineappleTwo“The Prince has had a feminine voice since birth,” The maids whispered to each other. Lianne, now done with her bath, had tied her hair back to a low ponytail, keeping her face masculine and a tad bit feminine. She wore a normal short sleeved red top with intricate designs stitched to it with a pair of trousers to accompany it. The design of her clothes is Chinese in origin but with a few modern touches of the 28th century. Her refusal to wear shoes or slippers was clear seeing as her feet’s skin eloped with the marble floor in an endless cycle. “Maybe it’s a side effect of being born to the girl of the rainbow.” Lianne nearly approaches the center of the one story castle. There at the center lays a huge pine tree, cradled by the castle, railings surrounded it to prevent anyone stupid as to climb that majestic plant. So if you were to see it up in the sky you would see a huge castle and at the center of that castle was a square lot that held the tree. Lianne was proud to say that she was the cause of the construction of the railings. Proud to say that she was stupid enough to climb it and meet a scary creature within its branches. Liannewas careful not too step on the needles the pine tree would shed. As she carefully maneuvered her way to the other side, she heard rustling between its branches. “Prince Roy,” A loud joyous moan echoed. Smoke marked the appearance of the owner of the voice. Lianne merely covered her nose in disgust as she stared up at the tree, a figure slowly revealing itself. The creature that appeared looked human but definitely wasn’t the size of one. It was a giant, called by some as Kapre. “What is it?” Her voice was now deep, masculine and alluring. The medicine she took had done wonders. “I watched you sleep last night,” it chuckled, “You’re so entertaining.” “I’m glad to please you,” Lianne replied eying the huge piece of tobacco it held with its large fingers. “You’re by far the most interesting sleeper I have seen and I have lived through the early 20th century.” “Well thank you again,” The giant fixed his position and sat on the branches. “Y’know I’m glad that time has passed by so fast,” The giant smiled revealing its yellowish teeth, “Me and the others have spent a great deal of hiding before. “Y’know cause if they see us they would hunt us down like a friend I called Manananggal, don’t know why they mistook him for Aswang, why we took a huge bat and let them catch it! We saved him in a knick of time y’know. It’s good that you people learned to respect us y’know? Got yourselves under control and not overpopulate the world not like them old folk where they’d bring life just to see it die. You see what I mean?” “Yeah causey’know I’m smart like that,” Lianne mocked, earning a hearty laugh from the giant. “Ye got humor y’know that?” It replied. “PRINCE ROY! YOUR FATHER AWAITS!” “I best be going Kapre,” Lianne smiled, her voice still muffled by her hand. “Nice chattin’ with ya,” The giant retreated before Lianne turned back to her route. She soon reached her father’s quarters where she sees an exact image of her right now but older and more muscular. Her father rested himself against the railings of the balcony with a bottle of alcohol at his hands. Lianne frowned and approached the old man, ignoring the maids in the process. Probably hearing her, the man turned and smiled. “Ah, p-p-prince,” the man slurred as he messily made his way to Lianne, “In celebration of yer…” Lianne waited patiently as the man counted his fingers. “15th birthday…” “Which is in January 24,” Lianne interrupted a smug smile on her lips, “Which is in let’s say 7 months.” “You are to meet yer fiancée, Princess Catherine, who would be staying here with you in your room till your birthday passes to see if you…” the man collapsed with a wacky smile on his face. Lianne sighed. He is drunk out of his mind. She approached her father’s body and cradled him in her arms. “One, two, THREE!” she yelped as she carried the old man quickly to his bed. She sets him carefully and smiles as she tucked the man in. “Its fine we can talk about it later when you wake up,” she kisses her father’s forehead and stroked his hair, “I know you miss mom too.” “How sweet of our master,” a maid remarked. Lianne turned to see the head maid Lenalee. “Let me finish what the king was saying,” Lenalee smiled, “Your fiancée will be moving in with you until your birthday. She’d be arriving tomorrow.” “Fiancee…” Lianne trailed off in wonder. Am I really going to get married to this woman? I don’t have interest in women nor men so I guess it’s just for the welfare of this kingdom. “Prince,” Lenalee frowned, perhaps he is in love with another. She then smiled going off to her dreamland. It would be like those TV dramas! The Prince engaged to a woman he doesn’t love and perhaps his lover would be a pauper! Oh the possibilities! Lianne turned to Lenalee and sighed. She stretched her arms as a sign that she is to ready herself. © 2012 Katherine Enma PineappleAuthor's Note
