Shuteye Empyrean

Shuteye Empyrean

A Poem by Onoma

Wide from variant There, as day so was...
doses of forgetfulness lavish a sleep.
All ordeal offed mid-burn, now cool to the
touch of dream.
At first chorus heaven's vault alights its shell.
The cessation of an amorous balm casts out
boundary, makes breath inhabitable.
To breathe life into dearest things nearly
suffocated.
Sleep...sleep as to be dead to the world, but
alive to one's own.
Cut down from life erect, body strewn across
earth--bedded.
In simpatico with her, what scene saw you
behind imparts its wisdom.
The stuff of eyes stuck to a face know only
this reprieve: there's no other foreground to
dawn's anticipation.
Goodnight...and pleasant dreams.
