Regina and JohnsonA Story by James WesserJohnson and Regina are new to Sunset Valley. Johnson lost his job as a multi millionaire lawyer in Bridgeport and Regina was your typical housewife until her lavish life style was taken out from underRegina and Johnson Wolfe step out of the taxi in their new home of sunset valley. They look around. "Ugh" Regina says "This place smells" As she steps out of the cab, her long skirt touches the ground beneath her. Her shoulder length red hair flows down her face like a waterfall does on a cliff. She wears a white loose fitting shirt with a scarf draped around her neck. "Oh it's no worse than the city " says Johnson, who looks dapper in his coat and scarf He is a rather big man with brown hair in the style of a comb-over. Wearing his black shoes and pants, he walks over to their brand new home. "well, this is a step down from where we used to live. But, its all we can afford" he says The house they bought looks like a rather old trailer, which is located behind the town hall. "Ugh! why did you have to lose your job, Johnson!. Now I have to live in this stinky cesspool of a home"! Regina says, almost in tears "Oh relax, would you?!" he says "You are always so dramatic!" She sighs and meets up with her husband. Well, I guess we better go inside and check the place out" Johnson says. They both walk into the house. What they find is something straight out of the 1970's. Old shag carpets, paneling on every wall and puke green and orange furniture in each room of the house. The bathroom has a Black and White tile that has no personalty to it at all. The bedroom looks like someone took dark green paint and smeared it all over the walls. The room looks like it just came out of a bad "Brady Bunch" knockoff. The house literally looked like it was built in 1970 and never remodeled "Oh God" Regina said. She loved to critique people's homes, saying how ugly or awful they looked compared to her home. Now, she realized, she was one of those people she critiqued, with an ugly home. "Well, we got to work with what we got" said Johnson, being a little more hopeful than his dramatic wife. "I'm going to go on the computer and start looking for a job. " Regina on the other hand let out a heavy sigh and sat down in the middle of her new, but rather bland, kitchen. She decided she was going to have a long hard think about her life. She loved to brood about the meaning and the sometimes hollowness of life. She needed to get herself together, for the sake of her husband, whom she was married to for over 5 years. So, she decided to sit down, stare at the fridge and have herself a brooding session Unfortunately, Johnson didn't have much luck in the job search, so he had to get up and go to town hall. His wife wanted him to be a businessman when they arrived. But, Johnson knew that wasn't his passion. He was into speaking and charisma. So, he thought the poetical career would be the best bet. This could be his big breakthrough to be rich, famous and possibly change the world. "Honey, I got to run to town hall for a few minutes. Want to come?" Johnson asked his wife, who was still looking intently at the fridge. "I'll pass" she said with another large sigh. Johnson ran out the door to catch a cab. Once he had left the house, Regina made her way into the bathroom. She started to check her self out in the mirror. This gave her a little mood boost, since one of her favorite pastimes is admiring her beautiful face in the nearest bathroom. It calms her down even more than brooding does As Regina is checking herself out in the mirror, Johnson gets in his old, beat up, station wagon and drives off to the town hall to get himself a job in Politics. He has read that Sunset Valley allows anyone to become part of the political track, no resume or interview required. People can walk in and walk out and have a job within 10 seconds! Once at the town hall, He walks in unemployed and walks out with the job as a podium polisher. Its not much, but he is hopeful that this can be the start of something fantastic. As he's walking out of the hall, he notices a tall woman wearing a fur jacket. She reminds him of his wife, as she looks even more rich then they ever were. He calls her over to see what she's up to. Her name is Vita Alto, one of the richest families in all of sunset valley. Her family is best friends with the Goths, the people who really founded the town way back on the 1930's. Once being rich himself, Johnson starts to become mad, seeing that he isn't the only "rich" person in the valley. Naturally, he greets her rudely.... © 2016 James Wesser |
