If ever I come back

If ever I come back, shall I go again,

know that I am with you.

Should anything happen

my heart will rest in yours.

It will follow as far as the sand and desert,

climb the steep peaks and mountains high. 

It will soar through the heavens on silken wings,

and will breathe life into the dusty remnants

of what will remain constants in our pasts. 

 

If ever you should question my devotion,

Know that it is as gentle as the wind that erodes the sturdiest of rock

With every breath whose gust gathers the debris

of the subtlest transgressions, of our tribulations

it will carry them within its light tornado

forgotten as are the singular fleeting thoughts of youth and ignorance.

 

The dusty roads we walk,

the downtrodden routes we take,

will eventually merge into the great path that we will follow.

Into the horizon we walk

where the fingertips of the sunlight claw at the night,

faltering in its attempt to maintain brilliance.

Tiring in the attempts, it succumbs to the night and stars,

that will light our way through our years.

 

Hands brush each other,

fingers lacing slowly, releasing,

traveling, bridging the gap of time and distance. 

You visit me in my dreams

as the stars grace me in my world

the sun bides its time in yours.

 

And should I ever fall again,

it is you who will reach me every time,

should I ever come back shall I go again

know that every breath is yours,

captured within the atmosphere,

breathed in by you.

Should anything happen

my heart will soar through the heavens on silken wings,

and breathe life into this feeble soul. 

 

If ever you question my desire,

know that it is as subtle as monsoon;

its waters wash not my yearning away,

instead floods over my world where it pools at the core of me. 

Walk with me down this path for when we meet again,

I shall travel with you, if only in spirit

If ever I come back, shall I go again,

know that I am with you.

for when you love, love with your all
and never be afraid to fall
for the one to catch you in the end
will always be your best friend
So unabashedly I dedicate this
to the one whose love is nothing short of bliss.
