This poem was originally written in 1999, then I revised it in 2006. Not sure if it could use more revisions or not. The original is encased in a time capsule at L'Anse High School in L'Anse, MI

Can you look into my eyes and see yourself through me,

Then smile and wish you could see me no longer.

Have you memorized me through books and articles that are somehow lost, forgotten by this treacherous world?

Is this treachery a beauty of your own that you have created

A hundred years after my world had spun its web of it?

Bask within the array of befallen roses

That drift within the profound light of intelligence,

A hundred years from now.

For those who see me not yet with love, Integrity and thoughtful grace,

Let your eyes fall upon the tapestries of youth

That falters within an aged embrace.

Make me see, unwrap my vision so I may conclude that

A hundred years from today,

You’ll see love like I, in every aspect under the ominous sun,

In my lifetime, I longed to set myself free, in hopes that in

A hundred years from now,

I would no longer have to abide by the boundaries of limitations

I have now become quite accustomed to in this era.

I sleep soundly now, among the thin reeds of memories,

Long before you even exist, I now clearly address my doubts,

Shall you understand morality, though, in your time it may seem mundane,

A hundred years from now?

The fields of confusion plunder beneath the weight of my heart

That rests soft upon your own,

As you sleep soundly within my words, hovering over you like a shadow,

Their chastity echoing through the destiny of the night.

The breadth of the reflections of time are now brought through

The mirrored dreams that alter the rippling in the waters.

Can you see their truth, can you relate to change,

A hundred years from now?

"in every aspect under the ominous sun,

"For those who see me not yet with love, Integrity and thoughtful grace,
Let your eyes fall upon the tapestries of youth

I adore the rhyme scheme of this line, and its independent existence.

This was fantastic. You posed some great philosophical points, inspired me to re-visit an old poem of my own as well. I like the title change, very good work for an older piece. Great job.
