My Promise to You

My Promise to You

A Poem by J.V. Stanley

My Promise to You

A sudden rush of a waking wind pierces through my weary soul

An abomination to my world as my weather undertakes its toll.

The silver hue within your sky penetrates my once unscrupulous heart

As I bid adieu to the fallen lies that have beset me within their art.

These insatiable dilemmas incinerate the reverence of my languid persona

As once before in my tattered state I’d impale myself into a monotonous coma.

My soul formerly shorn of the velvety resonance that undressed my parody

Beneath the mercy of the endless showers of my sullen rhapsody.

Somehow I find the cruel taste of love so invigoratingly sublime

To adhere to the desired potential of our love should not pose as a crime.

To enshroud myself within the breadth of all the wonder that is you

Imprisoning the memory in my soul as you professed your love hitherto

I yearn to spend eternity within our own self-made paradise

Though I realize my love, that simple pleasantries will have to be sacrificed.

I desire nothing more for you than to be the most pure devoted wife

To see myself still loved in your eyes forever in throughout the afterlife.

I realize the fact that truthfulness and honesty are a complete emphasis

We will find ourselves eventually upon a vague and incommunicable precipice

Where we find each other upon a stage in a very far-fetched pantomime

Each acting in different stanza’s, in different faces, all through time

But we must treasure our love and never let it go

To stand by each other throughout our years and watch as tenderness grows.

I love you more than everlasting life could ever bring

With every flash of your eyes, my heart is emblazoning.

I love you with no perimeters, no exceptions, with all obligations to uphold.

I will keep the ties that bind our souls and sustain our household

I will do the duties of a woman for her husband and family till death compels us to part

On a pedestal will you sand forever deep within my wild and pensive heart

All this and more I promise you, my love everlasting

That my life for you, our dreams will come true and remain unfaltering.
