Your Love Story

Your Love Story

A Poem by Samantha

It began the second week of the eighth month
Four months before the first drop of snow
Was supposed to occur
Friends you started off first
Then took her to an Italian place
On nothing but a dare

Push her into the chair you did not
For she believed your heart was already caught
Within the same month you knocked on the doorbell to her heart
And she let you in, closed the door shut

You got sick in the mind, a few short months after
Just like that the honeymoon phase quickly turned into the worst days
Always stuck in a gloomy phase
But she still stuck by your side
You saw her inner light dim, go dimmer and dimmer
It soon reflected your long sleepless nights

As you got healthier, she became sicker
In the heart, spirit and soul
It took all her strength just to convince you to kiss her

She moved back home after school
And soon you grew distant
Both in emotions and miles
Trying to relight this candle
Wasn't even what mattered

You implemented all these rules
Regulations and dress codes to follow
Which soon turned into mental abuse
She broke free from your chains
An imprisoned girl she no longer remains

A brand new fresh start she craved
Your final act of revenge she still disdains
But alas your love story remains
Floating around in the cloud of your self praise.
