Sonnet 1

Sonnet 1

A Poem by just rose.

I tried to tell you how I really felt,

but cobwebbed steps appeared inside my mind

or antique-era carpet that would melt

beneath my tiny feet as I would find

myself running fast upward from some ghost.

(A basement full of trauma that still seeps

its way into each savage breach headmost,

as modern disputes feature past-life creeps.)

Fast forward forty years: we are right here

wrangling the remnants of some former time:

and absolutely nothing is more clear

that love is here as well, alongside rhyme.

If you could hear inside my broken heart

Your voice would be its bell, your laugh its chart.

as someone who has also been dealt some traumas, i really dont know how i feel about forming new relationships. even friendships i am hesitant of. there's just too much backstory, which has inedibly effected how i am now. but there's some inspiring ideas in this sonnet - 'that love is here as well, alongside rhyme.' makes me think that some kind of healing is possible and everything will be alright.

Hey there, it's been a long time!

This part was the crown jewel:

"Fast forward forty years: we are right here
wrangling the remnants of some former time:
and absolutely nothing is more clear
that love is here as well, alongside rhyme."
