AddictionA Poem by Justly Poetic
You're a poison baby, and you've got me afflicted.
My brain says no, but my body is addicted. Withdrawal is a b***h, so give me one more fix, and we'll both pretend we're good. You fooled me twice so shame on me, I took more than I could take. You taste like summer, you taste like rain. You taste like something awful when I crawl back up the drain. You're bittersweet when I admit defeat, so stay for just one more night. You're just a trick, you're a dirty little secret. Where do I begin to trust you when you say that you can't keep it? Under the covers you're the perfect lover, but above it's just a game. The joke's on me when I want to be anything more than shame. You're a poison baby, and you've got me afflicted. My brain says no, but my body is addicted. Withdrawal is a b***h, so give me one more fix, and we'll both pretend we're fine. You fooled me twice so shame on me, it's time I draw the line. You taste like lies, you burn so good. You've enabled your bad habit for longer than I could. At the end of it all there's no one to call, so don't come look for me. © 2011 Justly PoeticReviews
