Your Virtuous Woman

Your Virtuous Woman

A Poem by justjenn_2u

Come to me, my man of God
I need you as you're praying
Lay your head upon my heart
Heed the words I am saying

I'll always remain humble
I'll love you with all I am
I'll offer my submission
I'll exist as your rare gem

My lips are faithful counsel
My role for God's sacrifice
I'll abide when you're guiding
I'll offer and claim advice

Promise you'll cherish my heart
Vow to remain my strong man
Keep me close within your prayer
Stand strong in God's mighty plan

This to me was a powerful piece about the loyalty and sanctity of a union bound by that of God, such as marriage in the classic sense. I loved the feeling of the imagery that was woven into your poem. I would even go as far as saying something like this could make really good vows.

Great Ink!

To me, this describes what a christian marriage would, ideally, be. You said it very well!

Beautiful, but very deep! Great flow and imagery!

The metaphorical imagery displayed within the text reminded me; marriage is a decision to serve one another in all things related to that partnership. It also got me reflecting upon these two passages:

Genesis 2:24 (Amplified Bible)

24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall become united and cleave to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

1 Corinthians 7:4 (New International Version, ©2010)

4 The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife.

Thanks for the read request – an excellent write!

What I like most about this poem is its honesty. You present these thoughts and wishes as they are—a prayer. Very humble and true. Thank you for sending this one my way!
