Wow, I loved this, the imagery is very nicely executed in form and flow, as the passion behind the wording takes on a life all its own, the way poetry represents art, the way metaphors open the door to deeper
understanding that would othrerwise be restrained. this is absolutely crafty and rhythmically creative.
Hey, thanks for your review (: I've heard good things about your writing, so I thought I'd check it out, and I have to admit I'm impressed! My favorite line is 'In the asylum of the heart, I'm the voice of poetic art.' Your choice of words really caught my attention - I'm curious to your inspiration?
i dont know what to say!
very "poetic"
weird... how i felt while reading this!
its astonishingly capturing!
as usual... simple flow, very strong and effective words! every word along a beat of you heart!
i love it!
keep it up!
It's a stamp of postmodernity for art increasingly to be about itself, to notice process over faux absolutes.
And this authentic take on the soul of poetry (or poetics, when it extends into other disciplines) reminds me of Koestler's book title, that Sting used for Police album: "Ghost in the Machine."
Poetry/poetics is REAL LIFE in the reductionist grid, the white noise of "economic bail-outs," sawdust suits, appropriationist militarist politics.
"In the asylum of the heart,/I'm the voice of poetic art."
This entire poem is a poster reminder of what is important in life -- LIFE ITSELF. Thank you for your excellent and enduring affirmation.
Good poem, Jenn! I like how you illuminate individual tiny details of larger pictures, especially the lines about being the color in a world of black and white. I came away thinking that black and white ARE colors, so your narrator, as poetry, is just there. Thanks for sending your poem my way. I truly enjoyed it!
I write from my heart. I follow my instinct. I live impulsively. I never feel like my feet are firmly grounded as I am a free spirit. I am a very intuitive person, sometimes to the point it hurts .. more..
