Bipolar

Bipolar

A Poem by justjenn_2u

I see her when I come alive in the morning every day.

I see you after I have never slept many days as well.

Sometimes she moves very fast and has excessive amounts to say.

Sometimes you seem drained, no energy to expel.

Many times she is locked inside her own mind.

Many times you don't realize thoughts floating in my head.

Other times she seems to remain steps behind.

Other times you jest and pick apart the words I have said.

She's never the same person that I first met.

Would you tell him the pills can only do so much?

She always says words that she will regret.

Tell him I'm not using this disease as a crutch.

Tell her there's not much more I can take.

Why don't you tell me yourself?

When I see you change I feel my heart ache.

Can't you just see her for herself?

Jenn,
5 years ago I was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder... and God granted me healing. It was a very hard time for me prior to the diagnosis, I didnt understand my ups and downs.. so I certainly understand this piece very well..
The highs are wonderful(including the shopping sprees)
but the Lows took me to cold floors, late at night, with pills in my stomach...

You captured this disease of the mind, and soul very well..

God bless,
Melba

Hi -- Just brilliant the way you used a form to convey meaning. I don't recall ever seeing it done so deftly. Thank you for writing this and for your insight. Brenda

I really like this one. Similar to "Good woman down" by Mary J Blige, you write about y ourself in second person, and the reader doesn't know until the end. I also wrote a poem such as this called "she," because i also have dealt with the illness. it is hard, but i think people with bipolar are very gifted, in general, and it can be a blessing instead of a curse. good job!

Their is brilliance in the honesty of this poem . I enjoyed its simple truth. Your souls dance is one of survival and inner exploration. Thank you for sharing this beautiful breath of life. I wish you enlightened living and experiential learning. Keep writing for you have the soul of a poet and what you have to say needs to be heard.

I can relate to what you wrote because I plagued with the same problem. Unfortunately it was so good that it brought up some unwelcomed memories. But that won't hinder be from letting you know how good it is. Good Work.

I'm emotionally attached to the words you have chosen to write, the life I lead has no light in sight. I love so much yet the pain I cause leaves his heart as black as the darkest night he loves me yes, but ME I fill his head with stress hard to understand happy I am most the time my words are dormant I am fine!!!

Great poetry in motion, and thanx for looking at what chaos I leave to read =O)
