Intervention

Intervention

A Poem by justjenn_2u
"

Everyone has a rock bottom. Sometimes it comes to a screaming stop. You realize............

"

You shouldn't have opened that door.

You shouldn't have desired to know more.

No!

No!

Why?

I'm running.

I'm crying.

Why did you want to catch me?

One more hit would have set me free.

Yes!

Yes!

One more hit!

Maybe then I would admit

To the lies

To the deceptions

Why didn't you walk away from your suspicions?

Skin crawling

Chest is aching

I broke all of the plans we were making.

I'm flying away.

I'm not here to stay.

I found out about false teachers.

I heard sermons from evil preachers.

I'm coming home.

I need time alone.

My withdrawals are subsiding.

My personalities are dividing.

Silence

My only intervention

I follow my conviction.

I like the flow of this poem, it actually speaks a lot in just a few simple words. Being addicted to anything isn't nice...Yeah, it might seem like a good thing while you're addicted, but when you look back and see all that's changed since then, it's amazing to see how much you've changed. I really like this write, because it's very strongly written. Great job.

Hello Jenn.

I love the how the words race themselves.

Great matching of words here:

I found out about false teachers.
I heard sermons from evil preachers.

False / teachers
evil / preachers

nicely done.

There is some deep meaning here..the shortness of each part make it read with urgency.

Jenn, your buzz words and phrases are what make this jump off the page for interpretation, they draw a clear picture to the reader; now myself, I can see this same piece of work, be interpreted in several other ways as well, because of those same buzz words. Rather than talking to yourself, you could be speaking to someone in particular. I like the fact that I can use my own interpretation. You did a good job with this.

I've never gone through addiction to a chemical substance. You paint a picture of what it must feel like to know you need help and how difficult it is to admit. Very well done.

I liked these lines very much-
I found out about false teachers.
I heard sermons from evil preachers.

These are people you are supposed to be able to trust, and they turn out to be the ones who deceived you all along. Very powerful, well written. Thank you for sharing.
