Our Dark Places

Our Dark Places

A Poem by Brass Knuckle Poet

Our Dark Places
.
My war was lost
adrift alone
my sullen heart
could not atone
for my dark sins
the seeds were sown
.
your soul was bruised
your house in ruins
your world in flames
your heart entombed
a broken cross
scattered dreams
.
aren't we like 2 wounded souls
with rusted locks
and skittish hearts
set adrift we found our way
into one another's arms
.
don't we have a common thread
wrapped around each other's wrist
pulling us together
this is the one thing that we own
the one thing worth fighting for
.
can't we open up our sails
chart a course toward the dawn
buried in one another's arms
together we will survive the storm
.
.
