Burden of Zechariah

Burden of Zechariah

A Poem by Doug Blair
"

For Israel and for the contrite ones

"

I have borne

With their starch

And their sad, stiff rebellion

I have watched

As they mimicked

All the godless around.

Yet I say,

Now’s the time

To descend to their rescue

And to lift

As my Spirit

Of grace now is found.

They will weep

As they see

It was I they had wounded

They will weep

With new eyes

As they own now their sin.

But the fountain

Has come to

Remove all uncleanness

Yes, the fountain

Of grace

‘Tis their joy to dive in.
