The Recompense

The Recompense

A Poem by Doug Blair
"

Faithful ones will be satisfied bye and bye.

"

There will be a setting right

By the One who sees it all

Yes, the hungry ones at night

And the little birds that fall;

And the ones who feel the sword

Asking, just how long Oh Lord?

They will see the Recompense

The setting right.

It may be at any time

For the cup comes to the brim

With the bitter draught of crime

With the coarse neglect of Him

Who has shown us how to care.

Let all mockers now beware!

They will rue the Recompense

The setting right.

But if justice stays its hand

Tempting hurting ones to doubt

And still darkness seals the land

That the very stones cry out.

Reckon that the sad delay

Lures more hearts the Gospel way.

And this too is Recompense

In glorious light.
