"i stand"

If you have read, "why you love me"..... this is the answer that has been revealed.......

i stand.

in front

of the mirror.

 

i take a deep breath.

and ask my reflection..

what do you see..

 

i see my mocha skin.

i see my lazy eye.

i see my african descended nose.

 

i see a little girl who was once afraid

that is now a big tomb boi

inside that body the same.

 

i see my reflection.

i release a deep breath.

and my soul with that reflection,

speaks to me..

explains to me...

 

you don't have to be afraid..

anymore;

there is a safe place

which i have made for you..

 

you make sure

that you go there

anytime you need to..

 

in the short interval of blinks

and the raise of a brow

i begin..

to feel..

 

this warm flow of energy

over my body.

my pores begin to open.

the process of inhalation presents itself

 

and in that,

a breath of truth is inhaled

and in exhaling..

negative energies commence "release"..

 

my reflection appears

as my eyes open

my reflection it self

exhales..

 

speaking this time, clearly...

I love you..

you are worthy..

 

i look down..

for i feel,

in rare form

 

i touch my body.....

i look at my reflection,

i reach out

to touch my reflection

 

it looks at me

with a firm yet gentle

smile..

again, clearly it speaks

to me...

 

and you wonder why I love you

look at you..

I made you....

the question, my dear

is why wouldn't I......

Mr. Davis (a sign of r-e-s-p-e-c-t)......I stand beside you in that mirror. Awesome, powerful and emotionally uplifting. For all of us...not just mocha skin...this poem is allowing a person to reach so deep into the void until there is actually something tangible to feel....and as you said...not be afraid. The 2 different fonts seemed unnecessary but I felt where u were coming from. And yes, i felt it AND lived it. Trisha
