Ars poetica

A Poem by M

I'm letting you go from a place you didn't know you were trapped in.

I'm setting you free from the pretty world I built inside my head
The world I choose to live in when I close my eyes
Or when I keep them open.

Come with me.
I'll show you what beauty truly is and its price in all its ugliness.
I'll show you a world where your weirdness is valued and your flaws are envied.

For the last time I'll hold your hand while I give you the chance to come back to me,
to haunt me like the things I never had the courage to say
not even in my own pretty little word

to look at me like you can understand the vanity that runs through my veins in the same way insecurities run through yours.

This is the last time I'll let you see me as I am
And after that I'll push you away at the very end of existence.
Because everything i know is cursed to break and shatter
And everything I love is doomed to find its end in fire.

So this one last time I'll give you the freedom to leave behind this saints forsaken place and move to sunkissed places
while I'll get covered in the ashes of everything I've ever got to love

So don't look back.
Because like any thing I lay my eyes on, you'll be charmed by the cruel beauty of these red sunsets

Because you'll try to save a world that was only built to be broken.

And I'll have to watch you shatter too.
