Real Life Dress-up

Real Life Dress-up

A Poem by Kimmee Jean
"

i feel like i am seven...

"

I am seven in a teenage world

I am a child in a seventeen year olds body

Instead of playing dress-up

I put on make-up

Instead of playing house

I cook and clean and care

Instead of running away from boys

I hug, kiss, and love them

Instead of crying over spilled milk,

I cry over broken hearts, dreams, and aspirations.

My daddy's gone

My mommy's never home

My baby doll becomes real

My friends are growing up

My life is getting harder

My tears are never drying

I wish I wasn't seven in a seventeen world

I wish i was seven in a seven world

Completely ignorant, Completely happy

but you're my seventeen (eighteen now) year old child...
in an extremely weird way.
