There is a Time for Secrets

There is a Time for Secrets

A Poem by B. Stearns
"

A relationship is never fair.

"

Will I be your keeper?

When you have no one else to say your words to?

Tell me your thoughts

In the dark of midnight

Whisper it to me over the phone

Like you have nowhere else to go

It’s selfish of you to tell me

Why do you tell me

If I can’t do anything?

If I got nowhere else to go?

I keep secrets till they eat me up

Was that your plan?

You want words

Wisdom you’ve been searching for

Wisdom even I wish I knew

Help I can’t give you

You turned to the dying man for his answers

And you cried when he couldn’t give you what you wanted

So how could you be disappointed in me

When all I can say is silence?

Will I be your keeper?

When you have no one else to say your words to?

Author's Note

B. Stearns
This poem is about a certain relationship I had. I was put into unfair circumstances with no way out, and that is especially difficult for having to deal with a suicidal partner. For anyone who understands this poem, I am here to say that you are not alone, and please make sure that you come first.
