Night's Fire

Night's Fire

A Poem by Chrystal Gallenger

you won me over with shel silverstein's acid trip lines. This is one of those unforgettable times, that i keep in the back of my mind for when sadness overcomes. this single memory drains it all out, flees from my body.

because you had me at the first hello. you had me when you told me there was something in my eyes. so beautiful, isn't that what you whispered to me? under dimmed lights you kissed me. soaked in passion, you lips so sweet. you made me hungry with desire,

tonight you are my night's fire, melting me. from a distance the sky is lit. a million stars twinkle up above. beautiful and bright. you had me again. clinking wine glasses or was it something else? whatever it was, i drank you in. i found myself in your arms. comfortably as if, i'd been there, a million times before.

i fell asleep with you,
but woke up without you

you had me at hello,
so why did you say goodbye?
