I Shot the Tin Can

I Shot the Tin Can

A Poem by Juni Parks
"

'One day the animals found a gun and they were scared' Student Dana McMullin

"
Someone put a gun in my hand
Pushed me to the line in the sand
Behind me on a porch was a chair
where sat little bill, waving gun in the air
Up he flew to the front of me, him the man

One step two steps across the land
Nearer to the menace of a hat with a band
Tied to the hitch post was bill's mare
Tugging its neck its reins did wear
Up it reared, broke its line turned then ran

Around the back of me stood brother Dan
Readying his rifle for me and my last stand
He knew little bill's kill was never fair
and the draw was fast and done without care
Cause bill was never one to shoot a tin can
