Love may leave you bruised (Green house)

Love may leave you bruised (Green house)

A Poem by Vincent Makhathini

This love might leave me bruised,
appearance as that of a man returning from the Blood river man slaughter
Salty waters that could not stop the rushing red, without me having had the chance to kiss her goodbye
Sadly the trap is set, i stepped on it and now I’m stuck and yes i now bite the dust
The oven is out and lit, i bit the dust and am cremated while still alive,
Summer let the rain doors open from the heavens; even if it fills up this place it would be good
I’ve learnt to swim so death can’t win, I’m not a fool, I prefer to drown this heat
Before i perish speak to Noah send the pigeons, this time I will beg them to throw me in-side the ship
So I can be saved
If not I could just watch my ashes wade the flood, I’m on a high and not coming down to save your soul
I’m glad I submitted the flesh to dust and never allowed you to taint my soul
The life is in the soul and all you did was stain my heart and mind
I now blend with the sky, mingle with the stars and I’m at ease because I cannot be scared no more
This ship of thoughts is never sinking yet, you won’t understand because you watched me bleed, burn, drown
You let me down just when the love was on the pinnacle; my lofty sinking was an illusion because my soul lives
The time eye fist laid my eyes on you i knew that this love might leave me bruised
