Deeper Grey (Grey shades)

Deeper Grey (Grey shades)

A Poem by Vincent Makhathini

I grew up chasing words instead of flying kites
I do not have a flowery vocabulary to prove it
I grew up thinking I was not good enough,
Never believing in myself, even though a lot do
I wish I could withhold my emotions
And be like my father and keep my thoughts to myself
Spire with any one who comes to me with a clenched fist
