Flood Waves (Green House)

Flood Waves (Green House)

A Poem by Vincent Makhathini

The flood
waves above the inner once again leaving everything
swelling and where I’m standing I see a huge clean mess and
all i can do is gaze at these floral’s drown,
so calm they were but now they wane
I cannot sweep this one under the carpet
nor leave it for tomorrow, because as eye see the waters rise
eyes swell, the ocean
gets ready to burst its banks without my go-head
The apology is at hand yet I still dread you
I cannot just let go but your hand is filled with honey yet my bee hive is
dry
so I can only wonder how you got your hands dirty
I cannot prevent this heart from drumming, I’m heating up,
the hearts sun is striking as though no ozone layer exists
the thieves have penetrated my walls
I'm a human treading without a soul,
and yes that goes to show how deep some can go;
to overturn the throne
for a second i let you in my green house
and you left the boom gates open for my foes to enter
this time they came in three folds, and high was the tide
I cannot keep up with you swift to cold heart self
