                         LOST AT SEA

I came here

to see the vast

deep blue sea

and think

the view seemed

obstructed

from the skeleton

I was seeing

this shell half built

I began to wonder

on the who's

and the why

As I slowly walked out

on the rickety boards

to view this object

that lost its way

I likened it

to myself

lost and alone

a shell of my soul

touching the wood

it was wet and cold

sending shivers

to my very core

sitting down

on the edge

looking out

to wonder

if my soul

will ever

become complete

or stay a shell

like what

lies behind me

that first

obstructed my view

You use a great metaphor of the emptiness of the soul here..I am moreso amazed cause I thought on similiar lines when I saw the picture. It seems you absorbed the picture into your conciousness and looked beyond the obvious..Moving,poignant and beautifully done.

This has a serene calmness beating within it which manages to convey the question the reverie floats into like soft lapping waves. Perhaps though, this is indeed how we are feeling at reflective moments such as this..and it isn't always -as many assume- written from the brink.
The mystery of the old pier's wreckage becomes the old mystery of the soul.. And it is done pleasantly and without violence. A peaceful protest.

This poem merits more attention! We can so easily look into someone else's shell, but forget the one that we left behind. I give this poem a "BIG" thumbs up. I loved the imagery!!
