Knowing

I lay in bed
thinking of you
yes you, and
I know it will
never could be
'cept in my dreams

I lay in bed smiling, knowing
we are at peace
with one another
we both have
separate lives,
daily routines,
 and certain obligations

I know we
will be alright
even if we never
get on the same page
our lives will not
crash and burn
like some have done
because your book
has been written
while mine's being edited.
