Life is Funny

Life is funny, its
filled with promises,
hopes, and dreams
some shattered, while
others are dashed
yet dreams remain
always the same

I hold fast to mine
like precious diamonds
rough at first, then
smoothed out by time
till it glistens
in the sunlight

Shall I share
my dreams or
keep them hidden
in a treasure box
under lock & key
to be taken out
for special occasions?

When in the darkness
they call out to me
shall I reach in
taking them out
one by one
examining each
until I find
the flaw in
my logic to keep
them hidden
far from peering eyes?

Never to share
my dreams of
and with another
lest they too become
shattered, or dashed
