     THE APPLE iPAD OR NOT?

That was the question on all the minds who were going to Apple's Special Event taking place in San Francisco, California. The day when all enthusiasts of Apple products entered the Yerba Buena Center on January 27th, 2010. All looking forward to the new product that would be coming out.

Many had high hopes for the rumored tablet that would be announced. Also, hoping that once again Steve Jobs would do the announcing. So once inside and all the crowd were seated, they awaited in raptured anticipation for the program to begin. I'm sure they were asking each other what could top last year's big announcement when the new bigger and faster MBP's (MacBook Pro's) came out. Of course, they were announced by Phil Schiller, not Steve Job's. Which many began wondering if their beloved Steve Job's would ever come back. Due to his previous illness that eventually came out in the news.

But as soon as the event started, it was clear to everyone, Steve Jobs was back. After a resounding applause in the auditorium things began to settle down. The much awaited Keynote address would commence, and all would hear what the newest toy, gadget, or whatever product was going to come out.

As the crowd all hushed, Steve Jobs began speaking. He first spoke about the iPod, the iPhone, then finally the MBP's and how they were all mobile devices. He also stated that Apple is a mobile device company, so the next product would be in the line of a mobile device!

In a few words, Steve announced the new product that Apple,Inc. were presenting was the

'Apple iPad!' Even on the Apple's home webpage they called it “Our most advanced technology in a magical and revolutionary device at an unbelievable price!

I must admit I'm not too thrilled with the name chosen for this new product. Yet, what it is called is not that important, what it does and can do is! The 'Apple iPad' is more than just a tablet device, and there is much more 'under the hood' so to speak. I being a reader, like the fact you chose a book you pick off of a real (virtual) bookcase, not just a list!

But, I'm getting ahead of myself. First let me tell you some of the features that it has: You can surf the web, check your email, view any photos you have, or watch a video. These features are all built-in apps that have been designed from the first conception of creating the multi-touch screen of the 'Apple iPad'. With its 9.7 inch LED " backlit IPS display screen you can see that it is clearly 'remarkable and vivid'. This is because they use the technology called IPS or in-plane switching, that gives you the ability to view things in a wide - 178° angle. This new tablet device comes in at a mere weight of 1.5 pounds and 0.5 ounces, affording you the ability to hold it easily in your hands.

You can also take it just about anywhere and still get on the Internet since it is Wi-Fi capable. And with the multi-touch screen, like the iPhone it has been re-engineered for the larger screen space. It also has a battery life of up to 10 hours, so those who would use it for work or want to watch a movie wouldn't have any problems. You can even listen to music from iTunes without worrying about losing battery life in the middle of a song.

This compact tablet device, the ' Apple iPad' is also able to have over 140,000 apps to choose from (at the time of this writing). Which you are able to connect to with a touch of your finger at the App Store on iTunes, just as you would when using your iPhone. Many of the apps are free, or reasonably priced depending on which you choose to upload to the 'Apple iPad'.

Another item you can purchase is iWork- which includes Keynote, Pages, and Numbers. This too has been completely redesigned exclusively for the 'Apple iPad'. Of course, they are the same productivity apps that people knew and loved on the Mac. But its clean sleek look has all the markings of a true Apple Product. Although it is not available yet, it should be on the market soon. So for those who want to purchase one, I would suggest going on Apple's website or go in one of the many stores and place an order.

Apple is offering two different versions, a Wi-Fi capable or Wi-Fi 3G - depending on what your needs will be. They will also come in - 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB's. With a relative pricing ranging from $499 to $699 for the Wi-Fi capable; or $629 to $829 for the Wi-Fi + 3G version. So while it may take some time getting used to the name of this product, I am positive that many will embrace the new 'Apple iPad'.

So let's get an overview of the newest product from Apple, Inc. called the 'Apple iPad'! You can surf the net, check your email, or send an email with the use of a large onscreen keyboard, you can even delete any message with a touch of your finger. By the way it can work with any email providers of your choosing. You can view any of your photos in a crisp, vibrant and unique way. You're able to import photos from any other computer, download them from an email; or import them directly from your camera. Of course for this you need to use the CCK or Camera Connection Kit. Also viewing video content will be easy, and with a double touch you can switch between full or wide screen.

Just picture in your mind the ability or essence to have your virtual world right in front of you. Or as Steve Jobs aptly put it “Everything in the palms of your hand!”

No lid to open, or monitor to push on, just a small button on the top and 'viola' you could be on the world wide web- wherever you want. Although I have tried to tell you about this amazing new product, you should go to Apple's website and see it for yourself. I am sure in the future there might be different versions or additional things that people thought it needed already. But the newest product the 'Apple iPad' is what it was dubbed, and I am sure it will be around for a very long time.

Apple and Mac make great stuff and many cool gadgets as well. But shouldn't this, "Everything in the palms of your hand!” be (palm) singular like "hand" or "hands" plural like "palms"? My "hand" only has ONE palm. lol Of course it may be a birth defect. hmmm Just kidding! Great article!
