A ghostly HazeA Poem by Ice QueenJen
A Ghostly Haze
A ghostly haze filled the air as women hovered over their stoves Children were nestled in warm beds while the menfolk courageously braved the ocean's wind and rain In search of better things to find a pot of gold or a new land to hold the time has come to find something better for all
Then, as the haze lifts the children begin to rise to the smells of mother's cooking so fresh and clean with hearty mouths they come and sit down eager to fill their stomachs and start a new day
Life seems good and bright nary a reason to fight But, the women feel a change is on the horizon an eerily sensation comes with the ghostly haze that once again begins to fill the barren land
This fertile land they once knew to be filled with gold had been pillaged & plundered by the greed of man wanting to much to soon
One by one they flee from the fears that they themselves have caused leaving no home for their children to have ending in a ghostly haze. © 2008 Ice QueenJen |
