We The People
The year was 1776, when a group of men gathered around to discuss the fate of the new nation. During this time George Washington was then President of America. On this memorable day, July 4, 1776 these men signed a document known as the “Declaration of Independence."
In bold lettering this document begins with the line, “ We the People” thus forging the way for people to have a say in how the government should be run.
This was over 200 years ago, and still men are debating the fate of our nation. As we go into this Presidential year, we have the Democrats vs. the Republicans battling it out on who will end up in the White House.
Just who is going to end up being the honorable leader of the United States?
-This is a question on every American voters mind.
For the first time we have a woman running for the highly esteemed office of the Presidency. Hillary Clinton has proved she is capable of handling an office of authority. She also stood by her husband William Jefferson Clinton while he held the Presidential office between the years of 1993-2001. He was then the 42nd President which made Hillary, First Lady of the United States. So being around Presidential matters is not a new thing for her.
Currently she holds the office of a Senator for the state of New York. Showing to America that she, even though being a woman is capable of running a higher office. Yet many of American's wonder if she is really ready to become the next President of the United States of America. Or if America is ready to have a woman as Commander in Chief. This we shall see as the time winds down to the hour of the election day!
There is another first, as a black man is running for this office too. He also is on the Democratic ticket, like his esteemed opponent Hillary Clinton. And he also is a Junior Senator for the state of Illinois.
Barak Hussein Obama has done many things throughout his life. And he could have strove to make a lot of money in his career, but he chose to do something for the people. Many have likened Senator Obama to President Kennedy, being a candidate for the people. But only you the voter must judge for yourself.
In the words of Barak Obama he has stated “ We should be asking ourselves what mix of policies will lead to a dynamic free market and widespread economic security, entrepreneurial innovation and upward mobility [...] we should be guided by what works.”
Now for the other side of the political coin, so to speak. We have Senator John McCain of Arizona, who is running on the Republican ticket. Many people are following him, and what he believes is the correct ideas on how our nation should be run. Whether this holds true is only to be seen on the day of the election when the votes are all counted.
I am not saying who is right or wrong in this debate. It's up to you the voters to decide who will be the one to lead the nation. It is your constitutional right to make the decision for it states in the Declaration of Independence “ We the People of the United States.”
So the choice is up to you to make your vote count in this year's election!
