Getting over the pain

 

My day was happy

with his smile so bright

he showed me kindness

though I looked a fright

 

He brought me flowers

said all the right things

showed me his sensitive side

Why, he would even sing

 

I thought we were happy

and forever we'd last.....

all my happiness with him

now is a thing of the past

 

He shattered my dreams

broke my heart in two

I'm trying to go on

yet my tears are not few

 

Then one day another, he

so kindly, gave me a hug

saying “things will get better”

As I looked at his mug

 

“Time heals all wounds,”

he said with a smile

even made me laugh

yet I was so in denial

 

now the day has come

no tears ever flow

for I worked on myself

and my heart is aglow

 

My pain is there

yet it's fading fast

as my heartache is now

a vague part of the past

 

Again I can smile

for someone else is new

no rushing to love

as he comes into my view!
