What About Me?A Poem by Ice QueenJenThis is a poem for all those whose lives have been taken or shattered because of all the senseless wars.
What About Me?
“War is Hell” or so they say, but...but
what about me?
I'm only a child, born in a war ridden place on this planet
what about me?
Boom, guns shoot boom, a bomb blasts bang, another one dead a family cowers in fear
but...
what about me?
What about us?
Those deemed collateral damage due to the ravages of a senseless war I can't walk or play outside while bodies strewn across the empty streets
but...but,
what about me?
I look outside into the dark all is quiet, peaceful even what will tomorrow bring more guns, bombs, tanks neighbor going after neighbor
but,
what about me?
I look back to where my mother lays alone because someone killed my father last week life is not worth living hatred abounds here
but...
what about me?
I go lay down and hold my mother's cold hand praying for better days as the sun is rising another day of what guns, bombs, tanks my mother packs we are leaving to some place safer
but...
what about them?
Those who can't leave or those who are dead already inside, empty shells breathing, yet not living
but...
what about me?
Isn't my life worth something, anything does anybody care? I'm just a child, born unfortunately in a war-torn area of planet Earth
