What are we really in the scheme of things?

when you type, your
words become a
cryptic series of numbers

It's a numbers game
we play daily, as
you, me, and the rest
of humanity sit
in front of computers,
phones, tablets

Is it a numbers game
out there in the vast universe
of stars, planets, asteroids?
Would you even care
what
is past the end of your
nose?

Am I a number,
are you a number
we all live in
a game of numbers!

Author's Note

Many years ago people used sets of numbers for code's. Above this poem is a set of numbers instead of the title.See if you can decipher the title, and then think about whether we are really a human being or just an intricate set of numbers?

I think the numbers would spell out "a numbers game"...using alphabetic code anyway.

This was a very interesting and insightful write. In this day and time, we have all in so many ways been reduced to numbers - statistics, ip addresses, perhaps it has always been that way but it just seems that now even more so. Even though I don't know much about science, it's my understanding that math is much more than just something to be used to count! There are complex equations and new discoveries everyday it seems...

This life is full of numbers, without them nothing would work...
Even in the prehistoric times, they did counted stones, and watched the stars,
The old Egyptian did too. All is calculatable, and it's nice you point that out here, within your fantastic write. Thank you.

Loved it. It had a "cold" sound to it; the digital age, reducing human beings to sequences of numbers and statistics, really creeps me out, and this poem puts it in perspective.

when you get right down to it numbers are present in every venue of life...music is math turned art, love is based on percentages, etc. i love this poem and have touched upon the same subject in my own words (somewhere in my writings)
