Wrong Salad

Wrong Salad

Wrong Salad

I thought I would stay with her

Until the very end

But when she lit her cigar

It was sadly, the wrong blend

Man-O-War was my label

But she preferred White Owl

To smoke a different brand

To me was truly foul

When I offered a Johnny Walker

She preferred a different brew

I’m not known as a squawker

But that simply wouldn’t do

Restaurant meals another area

Where we seemed to differ

She would always order curry

Which did offend my tender sniffer

Finally there was the salad clash

For a Caesar, I would howl

But when she ordered Greek

I threw in the towel

I love the flippant caustic tone of your story, which leads me to read this as a spoof on how superficial people can be, when it comes to what we scorn about others. As always, strong rhyme & rhythm to carry your sarcasm along with a mocking lilt (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

It is those little things that can attract or repel. I love the bit of humor here - and I'm not a curry fan either! :) Julie

Wonderfully witty; love the title, 'tis salad days writ large, and Antony and Cleopatra sprang instantly to mind as I read; that ended in tragedy as well. :))

I wonder if Cleo puffed WhiteOwl

A fun, rhythmic and tasty piece of writing. Each stanza created a different mood.. was amusing to see how you think. Wonder how her thoughts travelled?! I love Mediterranean food, so, can't join in the pros and cons of the content but will read again for a smile or few.

And quite right too. If I ever see greek or greek style on a food label, it makes me squeamish. They do say opposites attract, but they also say of some, that they could start a fight in an empty house, and your ex sounds a right little argumentative little minx
Some may say you exaggerate, but i'll back you up, been there, heard it and changed the locks before they came back :)

Cannot stand olives! That being said, I'm more of a "ranch" girl myself. Love the diversity of your pieces, Dave!

John - come on Fetta cheese isn't that bad, but I don't like olives. I do prefer Caesar though, like you.

Haven't you heard that opposites attract? And variety is the spice of life? We don't want to be like clones do we? Vive le difference. :)
