Art the Official

Art the Official

A Poem by john l smith
"

still to do's

"

Art the Official

Art the official was quite intelligent

Into meaningful musings he’d put a large dent

His time in research was awfully well spent

And his aspirations indicated serious intent

He rightly predicted the rise of machines

The designer holes in knees of new jeans

Making tasty hamburgers using just beans

The dangers associated with trampolines

Too many people living beyond their means

And the benefits of eating your greens

But yet no solution to eliminating disease

Or reducing excessive pressure on world fisheries

Or stopping developers from cutting down trees

Including politicians that seem to do as they please

You're putting me out of business with your snappy mono-rhymes here! *wink! wink!* I'm impressed by your choice of well-stated examples in making your point -- the meaning of "show instead of tell"! Somehow your poem feels vaguely like progress, but still with a lingering sense that we're actually floundering. How can I resist reading something political into this? (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
