Subway Station

Subway Station

A Poem by lk
"

something from the Toronto years; inside out to follow

"

A sheet of glass besmirched with dust and grime
A film of fine beige grit and greasy slime
Holds back the darkness
(Within, dim silhouettes shade out the bright
Reflections; lamp yellow, flourescent white)

Beyond, maps traced by oily dripping rain
Wet lurching swells pass, crooked trails remain
(Ravines in smog stains)
Cold damp collects beneath on concrete ledge
To grossly hang in drops from crumbling edge

Pendulous globes swell, quiver obscenely
Umbilicals stretch, fat globs tear free
To splatter in a spatter down below
Atop a ground-out cigarette butt.

Ravines in smog stains, ledges, edges, lurching swells, and crooked trails...

Nearly a memory...still a suspended wish, but that belongs to another time. Usually. Perhaps on a cold January day, I can be forgiven one small and sentimental dandelion wish. Be good to yourself. You still know how to make my chest ache.

I used to give something dramatized in spaces like these... as a rule, we'll forgive some youthful indescretion here I'm terribly uninteresting. I promise. more..
