He's one of Australia's most private performers, but when it comes to supporting the career of his long-term girlfriend Milly Gattegno, actor Chris Lilley is happy to make a rare public appearance.

Making a quick exit via the backstage door at Miley Cyrus' Sydney concert at 2am Saturday, the Jonah from Tonga actor was spotted with Milly, one-half of The Faders music duo.

On hand to cheer for his girlfriend, who has been the support act for Miley's Australian Bangerz tour, the pair were seen leaving AllPhones Arena in a taxi.

Despite being behind some of Australis' most famous larger-than-life characters, the 39 year-old writer and performer has been notoriously tight-lipped about his relationship with the DJ.

While they have never officially confirmed their romance, the duo have been linked romantically for around two years.

Speculation over whether they were a couple was further fuelled when the pair were seen dancing together Big Day Out earlier this year.

But when asked about a relationship by The Daily Telegraph, Milly would not be drawn, saying only that the J'amie: Private School Girl star was a fan of her band, describing him as a 'wingman'.

'He (watches) from the sidelines, he’s been to a lot of Faders gigs, we’ve dragged him to a lot of interesting places over the years,' she said  last year.

Milly, who works with music partner Suhana Lye in the band, has been travelling with US superstar Miley Cyrus as she tours Australia.

With 30 year-old Milly in demand thanks to her album F.U.N, Chris is equally as popular thanks to his role as creator of some of Australia's most loved characters, including J'amie: Private School Girl and Jonah from Tonga, both of whom were introduced in the series Summer Heights High.

Milly formerly worked as a publicist for MTV before finding fame through her music.
It's believed the couple originally met in London.
