Throne of Thorns

Throne of Thorns

A Poem by @juliza

The princess sits

Before her rule

Upon her throne of thorns

A golden crown upon her head

And shadowed hair below

Her throne was made of forest branches

An evil to bestow

Twisted, knotted

Splintered, hammered

A crooked little show

Inside her soul lived jealousy

Inside her veins coursed greed

Inside her mind laid craze

So powerful is need

For years her kingdom fell apart

Inside her wake of want

A new nation

That had little of a start

The princess failed to see

Behind the veil of need and want and greed

Too careless to lift it up

and take a peek underneath

So no longer does the princess sit

Upon her throne of thorns

For the kingdom couldn't bear

The hardships being born
