Chapter 10A Chapter by @julizaLux
Chapter 10 Lux Year 4004
The morning was damp but warm. I lifted the clay mug to my lips. The worm liquid shocked my senses awake. Looking across the fire I saw Flos eagerly devouring her breakfast, rabbit soup and warm cup of potum, the herbal drink Sapien taught me to make. She smiled as she took her first sip of the drink, the warm liquid touching her dry, chapped lips. I looked at Nix. He sat watching a bird at the rift of the cave pecking at invisible food. I found myself thinking about last night. I had desperately wanted time to stop and allow us to stay there in that one moment. I wanted to stay suspended just outside the conches world with him. Nix cleared his throat and stood. “Are we training today? Because I think I can jump to the river.” I helped Flos up.“Oh yeah? Show me.” Nix turned, back to us, and splashed to the floor in a million droplets of sparkling water. The clay dishes he had been holding fell and smashed. “Do you want to come with us, or stay here?” She put her hand on my forearm and smiled as my flames surrounded us. xxxxx The air was full of mist sparkiling in the morning sun. Nix stood at the edge of the river, looking at the calm water. Floss let go of my arm and gingerly walked over to the same log she sat on the day before. He turned at the sound of our arrival. We practiced into the next few hours. Flos moved every now and then. Nix almost succeed with bringing a rock to the other side of the river with him. It fell into the flowing current half way across. “I am never going to get this!” He flopped onto the log next to Flos. I joined him before saying, “Well I don’t know what to tell you, I have told you all my tricks.” Flos turned to us, A smile creeping across her lips sparkling with the hint of something unknown. "It really isn't that hard." She said. Placing her hand on the sandy bank or the river, she took slow breaths and pulled her hand up. A tiny green plant thrived beneath her her fist, growing bigger every time she lifted her arm until she reached her waist. She snapped her fingers, creating a large white flower on the top of the plant. White dust settled around her creation. Nix stared in awe. I did the same. The plant was exactly like the ones that grew behind my house when I was little. I remembered I would pick them with my mother before she died. Flos turned to face us. I took a protective stance in front of Nix a fire ball glowing in my palm. © 2015 @julizaAuthor's Note
