Competition

Competition

A Poem by julius_wyann
"

A poem about the good and bad aspects of competition written through the lens of dodgeball

"
Sweat on the brow
Throwing balls of hatred with Love
Love of the sport

I dip, dodge, duck and dive
because dodgeball is the game
The beauty of competition
transcends it all the same

Balls are thrown to best me
It only makes me better
This is great, don't you see?
You are getting better too

However, the game can get heated
Animosity can build
Then the Love is empty
And only Ego is left

The yelling then begins,
along with the blame
"it's your fault he got hit!"
"He crossed the line!"
"That shouldn't count!"
eventually the cheating as well
and competition is no longer swell

So beat your ego and be a good sport
For the beauty of dodgeball
Ego is your opponent in Life
A "game" in which we all should Love

Hello, Julius! :)
I think you picked a great combination of themes for this. Your message is clear and relatable. I have trouble with losing, haha, so thanks for sharing.
