messages to my father

a poem about finally accepting that my father abandoned me and what I plan to do with that acceptance

For so long I've denied that missing piece
that hole you left in me at 15
the one I've tried to fill
with that denial
with men 
and even with these poems 

but now that I've acknowledged its existence, or lack there of, I can create a mold of everything I'm made of: From the acceptance. From the lessons I learned dating those men, From the messages between these poems, from everything you took when you left
