Vita et MorteA Poem by MalaLife is curious but Death provides no answers. *Part 1 (maybe) of a series that explore the inner workings of the friendship Life and Death share.*Life and Death were old friends. They bonded, shared, cared and harmonised For, they were two extremes on the unbalance we call Earth. One day Life asked Death a question. Life pondered "Why do people love me and hate You? Why does the mortals believe I am superior to You? Are we not Equals?" Death smiles benignly, but remains silent. Life heaves and huffs in an indignant rage. "Are You not bothered by it?" Life asked, Curiosity hidden in lilting tones. Death laughs, deep and raspy, "They dislike me as they see me as an end to their journey, For I signify the destination upon which they do not wish to arrive. They threaten me, demean me and say my name callously For they fear me" Life is stunned. What delusional beliefs the common being has! He plows on, "What about me appeals them so, my friend? What beneficial qualities I possess that is unclear to me? Death sighs at the naivety of the thought "You, my companion, are what they seek. They find you an enigma they want to solve. They befoul you, curse you, believe you as hindrance to them Yet value your gift." Life stares at Death in awe of the knowledge Death has presented. "What-" Life hesitates, "What gift?" With a sad, sorrowful look, Death replies, "You" © 2017 MalaAuthor's Note
