Can I Have A Cookie?

Can I Have A Cookie?

A Story by Juliette LaBelle
"

Puppies have such short attention spans.

"

My dog was limping when she came back inside from the yard with no wound, so I tried to find out why.

"Why are you limping?"

"My leg hurts"

"Where does it hurt?"

"My leg"

"Where on your leg?"

"My front leg"

"What does it feel like?"

"It hurts"

"Where does it hurt?"

"My leg"

"OK, why does it hurt?"

"I hurt my leg, can I have a cookie?"

"... *sigh* Yes."

This is exactly what it is supposed to be, no more, no less. Light, whimsical, and humorous, it reminds me of my dogs I grew up with. It's amazing how a fantastic piece as this doesn't require complex language. The simplicity makes all the difference.
