A Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)

I could of sworn it was you

who me?
you replied

yes you....
you looked shocked

it is me you uttered
with gusto

not its not
i insist

its someone else
in your place!

much later
after your shower
ON WET FLOOR
i found your mask
had melted
with the hot soapy water

yes i prefer this ONE
i said
snuggling into your chest
which smelt like rain

YOU SMILED AT ME
YOUR EYES DEEP WITH EMOTION

WE SLEPT WELL THAT NIGHT

next morning
i found
the disguise book of magic
in the trash

i knew it wasnt you
i said to myself

Indeed, sometimes people just want to hide, either what they say to someone, about what they think; even to themselves. Although, so called self-talk can sometimes be helpful to us. In this piece, I have the impression that being in a warm and wet sensual shower; can certainly force the issue. Even afterwards, a couple could still be caught up in the unspoken heat of internal passion; which isn't easy to recork - once it's burst open.! Thanks for sharing.
