Chasing rainbowsA Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)
Chasing rainbows
I caught the dawn Spider webs All wet with dew In their early morn Mirrored all Past brightest Sunsets too And moonlit nights And stars a bright That shone their night Crazy critters Come out slow Vacant paths Now city slow Tiny ants Like incessant workers Keep running In case should hungry serpents Catch them slow Bottlebrush banksia and gum Stand up tall to greet warm sun The night has ended Kookaburras laugh past dawn It's morning calling Greet and welcome Dance and pray Time to pull the curtains 'cross Time to wipe the sleepy eyes away Before all that beauty dies Time to chase that rainbow end Feel the moss Feel the rush Of beauty ends Where's that rainbow I was Looking for I looked away it fell a while It patiently waits on oceans floor Waits for rains and thunder And lightning partner To come and beckon her Arched mighty Brightly wonder © 2017 Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)Author's Note
