Telling time

Telling time

A Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)
"

Writing as I go

"
Time waits for no one
The saying goes
Time is a wasting
He said as he went
Packing all his clothes
Time heals all pain
Time doesn't stand still
She shrilled
Time makes things fade
Time is a healer
They said to ease the grief
Time as from the beginning
To its end
Time and time again
I hear the rhymes
I hear the time
As day goes into night
And dawn to day
As moon and stars gently
Slip away
We measure our life
Like some fluid once
In time
Shouldn't we be measuring
Time instead
Time is eternal
Not in
It's ounces of our day
Neatly basted baked
Like flour in some cake
That never rises
To be eaten up that way
Time should be
Ignored
Oh that I please implore

Even I do nt know true meaning
You can muse on this
All I know is that time rules us
It should be opposite

I liked the brevity of expression in this one, also the examination of all the cliches we have heard over the years concerning time. I do have some question about the philosophy, however. Time is not eternal. In eternity, in the Eternal Now, time does not exist.

i feel we acknowledge time too often...hurrying to get to places we don't really need to go to...or hustling to beat the clock for work or school or whatever it is...we let it rule us, instead of us ruling it...making the most of what moments we have....
